Returning to Chinese Foundations for Living
Here is where I share the Daoist practices I've directly learned from my Shifu (teacher) - who is from 青城山 (Mount Qingcheng) and is a direct lineage holder of 内丹西派 (Western Lineage of Internal Alchemy).
These include free classes on Qi Circulation and Guidance, readings of classical texts that help to calm your mind (I grew up reading these every single morning), and other practices that have genuinely helped me live a healthier, more grounded life.
You do not need to know anything about Daoism or Chinese philosophy - what I share here is for everyone and all beginner-friendly.
DISCLAIMER: I am a student sharing these traditional Daoist practices taught by my Shifu. The content I share is for educational and cultural preservation purposes. I am not a medical professional, and nothing here is a substitute for medical advice; please listen to your body, practice gently, and consult a doctor if you have any health conditions or concerns.

Why & how I got started (I was a skeptic at first!)
I've been dealing with a slew of health issues over the past few years - major anxiety, heart palpitations, low energy, lethargy, struggling to get through the basics of my day... but all my tests were coming back fine.
It was actually my mum who started learning from our Shifu first, and I began seeing the literal, physical changes she was going through. THAT'S when I knew that this Shifu was the real deal, and started studying too. Since then, my health has changed for the better by a LOT.
The changes in my health / body / energy
I began practicing on and off around August 2025, and started taking it more seriously a year later. My changes have been steady, and they've happened without having to force my body or restrict myself in any strict type of way. (This is what true Daoism is all about - aligning our bodies with the natural forces of the Universe and living in that alignment and ease)
I used to sit at the upper end of what was considered healthy for my BMI - now my weight sits right in a healthy middle and doesn't fluctuate beyond 2-3kg regardless of what I eat (again, I don't restrict my food). I have to stress here that this is not about losing weight - this is about letting our bodies naturally adjust to the weight it's meant to carry (some of our fellow students actually put ON weight to get to a healthy balance).
Mornings used to be extremely difficult for me - I'd wake up still feeling exhausted and it could take me hours to get out of bed, and I'd feel physically heavy throughout the entire day. Now my energy is a hundred times better, my body feels physically lighter, my mood is steadier, my sleep is better, and I feel more grounded and centred.
I'm not sharing this to make promises about what will happen for you - everyone's body is different. But I want you to know that these are the very real results I personally have experienced, and why I believe in this enough to share what I'm learning.
I've also included the feedback from the classes I've held below, so you can see the results others are experiencing too!
How do I know this is authentic?
There's a lot of aspects of Daoism that's been diluted, misrepresented, or mistranslated - not just in terms of what's been passed to the Western world, but even within China itself! Its history is incredibly long, after all.
What I share here isn't pieced together randomly from the internet. It's practices I've directly learned from my Shifu and also only shared after I've integrated the practices long enough to personally see results in my own life. If you follow me on social media, you'll see me consistently documenting this (especially on Threads!)
Did you know?
These practices aren't separate from the work I do in BaZi and Feng Shui - it's built on the same foundations underneath all of it. Chinese metaphysics is all based on the same principles - this extends to Traditional Chinese Medicine, too!
Chinese Classics for Calm
Before we get into the practices, this is the first place to start: Chinese classical texts read aloud in Mandarin Chinese. I grew up reading these every morning for close to a decade - these texts have long been studied not just for knowledge, but as a way of cultivating the heart. You don't have to understand or be fluent in Chinese - play these softly in the background as you work or rest and let the words wash over you.
I'll be slowly adding more to it as I go.
Fire Qi Stance Practice (火炁桩静功)
LIVE CLASS: OCT 2, OCT 9, 2026.
A 2-part class on this Zhan Zhuang standing meditation practice for circulating your Fire Qi.
Fire Qi is especially potent right now, as we move through a fire-dominant cycle running through 2043. In Chinese medicine, Fire governs the heart - making this practice a powerful and very necessary way to take care of both your cardiovascular health and your emotional centre.
